How to Activate Your True Potential

Have you ever thought about the concept of potentiality? We all have the ability to bring something into existence, right? And if you’re anything like me, you believe everyone has the potential to achieve their goals and dreams.

Anyone can earn more money and attain success in their personal and professional lives, but the catch is, only a few people can take their potential by the reins and do everything they can to allow it to become a reality.

Achieving your fullest potential depends on harnessing the energy around you. So what's that energy and how do you tap into it? The answer lies in the laws of the universe. This may sound intimidating, but allow me to explain.

Consider the acorn. When you crack it open, there's just a seed inside. Every seed has the potential to turn into an oak tree, but only a few do.

What does an acorn need to become an oak tree? It requires fertile soil. Water. Nutrients. The sun. Without each of these parts working together in harmony, the acorn won’t grow and achieve its potential. In this metaphor, the acorn is your brain, and the seed is an idea or vision that you need to nourish.

Another way to think about your brain is like a radio. It’s receiving and transmitting signals all the time. Sometimes it’s full of static, other times your favorite song is coming in loud and clear.

So, how well can you control what you tune in and out of your brain? Do you have a plan to create an environment for your ‘seed’ to flourish? The answer to these questions is essential to unlocking your potential, and I’d like to introduce it to you now.

The Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, and Physical (SEMP) Model

The Spiritual component consists of finding an internal resonance with your goals. It’s about having a belief in what your ideas and how to achieve them.

The Emotional component is about the energy that comes from tapping into an idea. Energy + Motion= Emotion! Positive emotions can propel you towards achieving your goals, while negative emotions can send you down the wrong path.

The Mental part is where your brain comes into play. Your mindset is what determines if you focus on your goals and how to achieve them, or the obstacles that discourage your efforts. Your brain taps into the intelligence, thoughts, and emotions that keep you motivated and productive.

The Physical part is all about taking action. Convert those ideas and emotions into energy to achieve the desired results. Whether it’s earning more money, having a better relationship, or losing weight, you have to get moving!

Just like the acorn seed and the essential ingredients it needs to transform into an oak tree, you must get the four parts of the SEMP Model aligned to let your dreams blossom.

The key is to create alignment, coherence, and resonance in your mind so that your body moves towards achieving your goals and dreams.

To engage your potential, I want to show you something that I call “The Activation Method.” There are three components to this process.

Your brain is the source of your thoughts and memories. But I want to focus on one essential part of your brain: The left prefrontal cortex. I like to call it the “Einstein” or genius part of your brain (the right prefrontal cortex, known as the “Frankenstein” part of the brain).

How do you tune this part of your brain, tap into your inner genius, and activate your potential?

At the beginning of this article, I described your brain as a radio receiving different frequencies. In fact, your brain has between 50 to 70 thousand thoughts a day, all while processing over 400 billion bits of information per second plus trillions of electrical and chemical reactions!

To cut out the static and distractions, you first need to achieve clarity. Here are the three essential steps to the Activation Method.

Step #1 of the Activation Method Is Visualization.

Take a few moments visualize your ideal life. Focus on your success. How are your relationships with others? How's your business and your finances? Now think about it as if you're programming the vision for your ideal life into your left prefrontal cortex.

Step #2 of the Activation Method Is to Focus.

This step is all about cognitive priming, which entails a daily exercise to physically and mentally focus on your goal. In the next day or two, invest 15 to 20 minutes to write down what your goals are for this year and beyond in a very direct, clear manner.

Back when I was struggling to achieve success, this is what I would do. By writing these goals down by hand and reading them back aloud, I was priming the “Einstein” part of my brain to achieve my goals. I was actively connecting neurons in the left prefrontal cortex around these goals.

There’s a scientific saying in the brain research field that says: “The neurons that fire together, wire together;" this is how we develop habits of thought, habits of emotions, and behavioral patterns.

Step #3 of the Activation Method Is Repetition.

Practice really does make perfect! And according to neuroscience research, repetition is how the brain gets wired to go from having conscious goals and dreams for your life to non-conscious thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that work in your subconscious or non-conscious mind.

Proactive daily habits like these help your brain tune into your visions and goals and cut out the static! But how long do you need to adopt these new practices for them to take root as a habit? I recommend you dedicate 15 minutes a day for 60 days to see and feel a real difference.

The takeaway for you here is to make the Activation Method a part of your daily routine so you can tap into your inner genius and reach your full potential.
