Do you have money problems? Do you want to get rid of them? If so, today’s guest article, written by my friend John Assaraf, is just what you need.
John has invited Centerpointe people to participate in an amazing online event for FREE. He’s gathered an elite group of scientists to explain how new brain-science research can be used to improve your life. You can find out more in today’s “Check it Out”.
And, today’s Sixty-Second Secret will help you be more productive.
by John Assaraf
A long time ago there was a businessman who seemed to have the magic touch.
He had a knack for creating products that solved people’s’ problems (and would create successful businesses out of thin air). Over the course of his life, he did this time and time again. But even though he had this ‘magic touch’ for making money, he never got wealthy.
You see, every time he would create a winning business, he would scale up fast and make a lot of money. But within a few years, he would be dead broke. Some months he’d even struggle to pay the electric bill in his apartment to keep the lights on.
No matter how much money he made, he would find a way to blow it and destroy the business in the process. This happened time and time again.
Now, you might wonder why did this happen? Why didn’t he learn his lesson the first time? Why didn’t he just save up some of his profits so he wouldn’t keep making the same mistakes?
There’s a good reason for this. His mindset was a symptom of a bigger problem.
The Hidden Barrier Holding Us Back From Wealth
Someone finally asked this successful businessman why he couldn’t ever just stay rich. Here’s what he said:
“You have to understand. I grew up in a poor, working-class town. From the time I was a young boy I had it drilled in my head that I’m no better than anyone else. My friends, schoolmates, and family never aspired to be much. And their beliefs rubbed off on me. So even to this day, no matter how well I do financially there’s a voice that tells me I don’t deserve all this success.”
This businessman’s problem was that his limiting beliefs held him back. He never believed that he was worth the money he was making. So his subconscious mind found ways to sabotage his success. And then he’d return to a level of ‘wealth’ that he was comfortable with.
These limiting beliefs are part of a set of thought patterns we all have running through our minds. I like to refer to these thought patterns as Neuro-Financial Patterns.
Most people suffer from a poverty mindset caused by Negative Neuro-Financial Patterns. These patterns are programmed into your brain from a young age. You pick them up from your environment, your peers, and what you hear at home.
The Great Wealth Experiment
Let me show you how these Neuro-Financial Patterns work.
Imagine we put 100 random people in a room.
Let’s say we gave each one of these people $1,000,000. Next, we instruct them to use this money to build a better financial future for themselves. If we checked up on them five years later, how many people do you think would have more than the $1,000,000 they started with?
There might be one person out of 100 who would have made even more in that time.
What about the other 99% of people? It’s sad to say but everyone else would blow it all until they got back to where they started. Don’t believe me? Look at how many lottery winners are now broke.
If your mind is not ready for this wealth, you won’t be able to hold on to it for long. It all comes down to the belief system you have about money. It all comes down to your Neuro-Financial Patterns.
It is possible to remove these Negative Neuro-Financial Patterns. It’s not your fault that you think this way – you couldn’t control what you learned.
But you CAN control your ability to change and develop Positive Neuro-Financial Patterns. Here’s how:
The Four-Step “Money Mindset” Audit
If you want to move from a poverty mindset to a wealth mindset you need to audit your thought patterns.
Take a piece of paper and split it into four columns. In the first column, write down a significant financial event in your life. Did you get a raise at your job, or receive an inheritance or a gift?
In the second column, write down what happened with this newfound fortune.
- Did you start spending more as a result of your increased income?
- Did you blow the profits of a big sale on things you didn’t need?
- Did you manage to save any money from the gifts you’ve gotten in your life?
In the third column, I want you to write down why you think that result happened. For instance: if you started spending more money after you got a big raise, then explain why you thought this happened.
- Maybe you thought that this increase in income meant you need to spend more to “look the part.”
- Maybe you thought now that you had all this extra money you should spend now because it might not be there forever.
- Maybe deep down inside you don’t think you deserve to earn this much.
You might have any number of theories – and some of them may be completely irrational. That’s OK! Oftentimes we are irrational when dealing with money.
In the fourth and final column, I want you to write down a new solution. If you could go back in time and make different choices, what would you do?
- Would you save 10% of that money for the future?
- Would you invest it in your education?
- Would you use it to pay off some of your debt?
By going through this process you create new ways of thinking about how to use money as a tool to get what you want in life. You can’t change the past. But you can train your brain to stop and think about irrational decisions before you make them. You can see that you are in control of your money and your future.
You’ll start to think like a wealthy person. You will realize that you are smarter than you give yourself credit for. And you’ll realize you can have a better life by making better financial choices for your future.
Your thoughts become your actions. Your actions become your behaviors. Your behaviors become your habits. And when you develop strong habits, you can overcome even the worst poverty mindset.
It all starts with a firm decision to change your financial future.

Did you know that your income level, your happiness, how much you can love or be loved, how easily you recover from setbacks–and dozens of other desirable human qualities…
…are ALL generated in your brain?
What’s more: scientists now know…
- That you can change your brain (what’s called neuroplasticity), and…
- They also know exactly HOW to change it, so you can create the qualities and capabilities you want to have, internally and externally.
This takes personal growth and “human potential” to a whole new level that is…
…much more precise, and much more achievable!
Wouldn’t it be great, then, to spend some time with these scientists and hear them explain what they’ve been working on?
Here’s how you can do just that:
My good friend John Assaraf (this issue’s guest expert) is holding what he calls a “Brain-A-Thon” (it’s free).
He gathers together an elite group of scientists (Harvard professor Dr. Srini Pillay, Dr. Daniel Amen, etc) so they can…
…tell you about their discoveries–and how YOU can apply them to your life.
After listening, you’ll be armed with what you need to know to change your own brain.
It’s an online event, so you don’t have to go anywhere. So, if you’re at all interested in this sort of thing…
What these scientists have to say is fascinating. And, John chose them for their ability to explain what they’ve discovered in a practical and easy-to-understand way.
These Brain-A-Thons are always amazing. Please attend this one!
Be productive, not busy.
There is a big difference between productive work and busy work. Productive work moves you in the direction of a goal. Busy work does not.
Busy work often feels like productive work, but it isn’t.
For example, imagine you are starting a business. You could design business cards, organize your desk and files, or read about successful business owners. All of these actions feel productive, but aren’t.
A better use of your time would be finding clients, designing products, or filing important business paperwork. What’s important is taking action that leads directly to accomplishing the goal of the business.
This is true of any goal: to be productive, you must take action that leads to its accomplishment.
Follow these steps to take productive action and reach your goals:
1. Write down your goal.
2. Write a detailed plan for the accomplishment of that goal. Only include steps that lead directly to the accomplishment of your goal.
3. Put your plan into action. If you run into any problems, revise your plan as necessary.

This Really Happened…
“I am about to finish Awakening Level 3 and I have seen a tremendous amount of benefit from the program.
I managed the stress of a couple of life changing events that would have crushed me in the past. I managed to be aware of what was happening and consequently I did have a choice in how I would respond. I responded in the best way possible and what would have been insurmountable mountains have been mere bumps in the road.
I expect good things to happen to me!”
